About
As he approached his fifties, Evgeny Kissin reached a unique level of performance, mastering like no other the technical difficulties of exposing the drama and genius of his programmes. After celebrating Beethoven last season, here he is again with Chopin, his Nocturnes, Impromptus and other Polish works where his poetry shines through. Then he takes us to repertories where we have heard less of him until now, but whose finery we are delighted to discover. Gershwin's Three Preludes, a brilliant digest of the American repertoire at the crossroads of early 20th century jazz, followed by Berg's Sonata, whose unique structure breaks definitively with the traditional form, and short pages by the academic composer Tikhon Khrennikov.
