Magdalena Kožena is a serious artist with an inquiring mind. When she was preparing to record Carmen in 2012 and to perform in Salzburg, she decided to travel to Andalusia to meet dancer Antonio El Pipa, who introduced her to the ancient art of the duende. This encounter fostered a desire to bring these two art forms – Spanish baroque song and flamenco – to the same stage as they have common roots. This can be seen and heard in this Iberian feast for the senses.
