A new voice to discover: after her debuts at the Metropolitan and Paris Opera Houses, Pretty Yende gives her first recital in Paris
She is only 30 but audiences over the world over are clamouring to hear her. Admittedly, this young South African soprano has it all: a dazzling smile, a youthful freshness and, most importantly, a rich voice with unusual timbres. Strong high notes that can be dialled back to very beautiful pianissimos. Broad, deep, well-constructed low notes. A regular performer at the Metropolitan Opera House in New York, where she made her debut in 2013 in Rossini's Le Comte Ory alongside Juan Diego Flórez, Pretty Yende was heard recently at the Paris Opera House in The Barber of Seville and Lucia di Lammermoor. Her first album has been released in autumn 2016 by Sony, with a programme by Rossini, Donizetti and Bellini, among others. Bel canto has found a new, talented representative.
