Prades aux Champs-Elysées
Festival Pablo Casals de Prades
To mark the Prades festival's 70th anniversary, Michel Lethiec and friends will play a festive programme from Beethoven to Gershwin
The Pablo Casals Festival has been held in Prades each year since 1950. World-renowned soloists gather for a series of concerts, and numerous students take part in the academy's masterclasses. It is one of the oldest festivals in existence, and one of the most innovative. For each edition, 40 to 45 events are organised on a theme, forming a novel itinerary through the classical and contemporary chamber music repertoire. Following the example of its founder Pablo Casals, one of the first major concert performers to travel the world, the festival also takes place during tours and residency programmes at leading international venues. For the last 20 years, it has taken up its winter quarters in the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées to provide an echo of the summer edition. This latest edition will be an opportunity for Michel Lethiec, its energetic and inventive director, to celebrate his 70th birthday in the company of all of his friends. The evening's focus will be on the love of chamber music, and friendship..
