Graceful and elegant duo revolving around the figures of Beethoven, Respighi, Ysaÿe and Franck.
Beethoven Sonata for violin and piano No. 1 Op. 12
Respighi Sonata for violin and piano
Ysaÿe Poème élégiaque Op. 12
Franck Sonata for violin and piano
A first part takes the form of a "mise en bouche" with the first of Beethoven's ten sonatas for violin and piano, which here remembers Mozart, followed by the rare sonata for violin and piano by Respighi, whose sunny Dionysian expressiveness flourishes brilliantly in the shadow of the Fountains of Rome that are contemporary to him. The second part of this concert will be dedicated to the figure of Eugène Ysaÿe, composer and great Belgian violinist. First of all by his Elegiac Poem Opus 12, a virtuoso piece dedicated to Fauré and famous in violin literature for its very particular tuning arrangement which gives it that unique timbre that is both so dark and so warm. Finally, to conclude, César Franck's chamber music "hit", characterized by its overlapping themes but to which the cyclic form so dear to the composer gives all its unity. Dedicated to Ysaÿe, the creator of the instrument, it offers a remarkable illustration of the balance of the dialogue between the two instruments.
