With his long brown curly locks, gothic outfits and staggering technique, violinist Nemanja Radulović has all the hallmarks of a Romantic virtuoso. After performing chamber music here for the last two seasons, he is now back with a colourful virtuoso programme, notably the Khachaturian concerto, one of the most iconic works in the 20th century violin repertoire, and a violin arrangement of Balakirev’s oriental fantasy Islamey. This piece, which was originally scored for piano, is renowned for its formidable technical difficulty. For their part, the Borusan Istanbul Orchestra and musical director Sascha Goetzel, will bring all their considerable verve to Stravinsky’s Firebird.
