This Norwegian pianist is extremely well known as a recording artist and on the concert stage for his performances of Grieg, Schumann, Nielsen, Schubert, and Rachmaninov, to name but a few. Trained to value music over competitions, and an admirer of Russian composers, Leif Ove Andsnes has blazed his own trail and consistently piques our curiosity and takes on new challenges as he pursues his musical adventures as a soloist and ensemble performer. He has worked with US video artist Robin Rhode, tackled Beethoven’s five concertos from the keyboard and at the rostrum of the Mahler Chamber Orchestra to acclaim, and has also delivered the complete Brahms piano quartets in perfect harmony with his fellow players. Now he is back, in the intimate recital mode, with a selection of major works from Central Europe.
