Is Benjamin Grosvenor to be believed when he says that he showed no particular aptitude for the piano when his mother, a piano teacher, taught him his first scales in his early childhood? Perhaps. But the "prowess" of his little friends soon gave him a taste for work. His efforts soon propelled him into the limelight: BBC Young Musician of the Year at the age of eleven - a record broken! -he made his debut at the Wigmore Hall a few months later, and signed with Decca before he was twenty. Between the troubled magic of Albéniz's Evocation and the hallucinatory whirlwind of Ravel's La Valse, he will offer a very personal interpretation of the Fantasy composed by Schumann at the beginning of the summer of 1836, separated from his beloved Clara by the will of father Wieck.
