Piotr Anderszewski piano
A master of the Slavonic school rubs shoulders with four seasoned young Haydn chamber performers.
Haydn String Quartet op. 76 No. 2 Hob. III:76 « Fifths »
Chostakovitch Quintet for piano and strings op. 57
Many journalists have tried to uncover the secrets of his playing. Piotr Anderszewski has an instant and mysterious rapport with his audiences, a sort of touching prescience which magnifies the impact of everything he plays. This allows a work to acquire depth, expand into three dimensions and become animated. Exceptionally on this occasion, this Polish musician who eludes definition joins forces with the penetrating sound of the Belcea Quartet for the great Quintet in G minor by Shostakovich. Vibrant soliloquies, consonances and din mingle with iconoclastic enthusiasm. It is preceded by a quartet which has passed out of the performance repertoire – the Quinten string quartet by Papa Haydn.
