Music in the Tetzlaff family is also a family affair. In trio with Lars Vogt, or in quartet with Elisabeth Kufferath and Hanna Weinmeister, Christian, the violinist, and Tanja, the cellist, play together as often as their schedules allow. Avenue Montaigne is the place for Mozart and Sibelius. Precedence to the Austrian, whose dark Fifteenth, the second of the six dedicated to Haydn, is said to have been born at the same time as the master's first child, and of all the doubts that fatherhood carries with it. Also in D minor, then came the Finnish Voces Intimae, the gloomy confidences of a composer certainly in the midst of a depression, but now on the path to a new musical language, denser than ever.
