With the publication three years ago of the album La storia di Orfeo, Philippe Jaroussky fulfilled a long-held dream, that of telling the myth of Orpheus through the music of three versions by Baroque musicians who had composed on this theme: Claudio Monteverdi in 1607, Luigi Rossi in 1647 and Antonio Sartorio in 1672. This original journey in the Orphic Lands, in which Philippe Jaroussky plays Orfeo, opposite Emőke Baráth as Eurydice, and the complicity of the musicians of the Artaserse Ensemble, takes the form of both a two-voice cantata and a miniature opera. “Each opera develops a part of the story: Sartorio and Rossi evoke the happiness of young lovers and the scene of the snake's bite; Monteverdi focuses on Eurydice's quest to the underworld, culminating in an aria unique in the history of opera, the magical "Possente spirto"," says the countertenor. After Erato's album, unanimously acclaimed by the press, here they are together on stage to bring the myth to life.
