She is only in her thirties but she is in demand on stages worldwide. South-African soprano Pretty Yende is truly captivating with her dazzling smile, youthful freshness and rich voice with its unusual tone. Her soaring top notes can mellow gently into fine pianissimos and her wide, deep lower register is very secure. A frequent performer at the Metropolitan Opera in New York, where she made her debut in 2013 with Rossini’s Le Comte Ory with Juan Diego Flórez, Pretty Yende has sung at the Opéra de Paris in The Barber of Seville and Lucia di Lammermoor. She released her first album on the Sony label in the autumn of 2016 featuring a programme of Rossini, Donizetti, and Bellini. Bel canto had found that rare thing, a talented new exponent. Today she is exploring the heroines of Handel and Mozart and we are sure that she will also be a huge success in this new territory too.She is only in her thirties but she is in demand on stages worldwide.
