    CELLO GRAND WEEK-END IV
    Bruch Kol Nidrei Op. 47
Brahms Sonata for cello and piano No. 2 Op. 99
    García Abril World Creation

This fourth concert on Sunday afternoon will feature a member of the next generation of emerging artists, Spanish cellist Pablo Ferrández.

The piece entitled Kol Nidrei, written by Max Bruch in 1880 for cello and orchestra, was originally a series of variations on two Jewish melodies which the musician composed for the Jewish community in the city of Liverpool, where he was appointed principal conductor of the Liverpool Philharmonic. Opus 99 by Brahms, the musician’s second and final sonata for the instrument, demonstrates his innate sense of melody and the perfect synthesis of Classicism and Romanticism which is the hallmark of his chamber music. Ferrández rounds off the programme with a piece by Spanish composer García Abril, who is renowned for his orchestral and film scores.
