Published in 1881, The Adventures of Pinocchio by Carlo Collodi, marked a departure from fairy tales populated by princes and ogres. A puppet carved from a simple piece of wood comes to life and offers children a lesson about the virtues of obedience and education. Narrated by Elliot Jenicot against a backdrop of music by Weill, Mozart, Vivaldi, Chopin, and Ravel, this version stays true to the original and barrels along, superbly illustrated with drawings by Laetitia Le Saux, an artist and graphic designer specialising in children’s illustrations.
