About

When the young Beethoven arrived in Vienna in 1792 to follow the teaching of Joseph Haydn, he had already composed a great deal. His first piano sonatas marked a turning point: written between 1794 and 1795, they were dedicated to his master and were warmly received by the public and critics alike. A little less by Haydn, who is said to have said to him: "You are not lacking in talent, just education." The student will take the advice, and the rest is history. Christian Zacharias reconstructs here, in a certain way, the dialogue of the master and his disciple in this programme where he alternates young Beethoven and pieces from Haydn and Schubert.
