What better repertoire than bel canto to showcase the most beautiful voices? The dazzling virtuosity of the writing of the operas by Rossini, Bellini and Donizetti explains the unfailing popularity of the arias that they imagined to make the performers shine above all else. It is to embody these tragic and resplendent heroines, icons of nineteenth-century Italian masterpieces, that Olga Peretyatko and Karine Deshayes take to the stage tonight for a recital with orchestra alternating arias and mythical duets. While the former, Lebanese-Canadian soprano, accumulates triumphs on the international stages, the latter, a French mezzo-soprano who cannot be ignored, has been excelling for years in the major roles of Rossini (Angelina, Rosina, Elena...).
