About
This third and final rendez-vous this season with Quatuor Diotima brings their residency year to a close with Opus 132 by Beethoven, one of the musician’s most majestic and moving pieces. Everything about this work is impressive: the connections between the five movements, the 264 bars, no less, of the introduction, its playing time of nearly 45 minutes, the construction in the form of an arc, and the unspoken awareness in every movement of the author’s illness. This is Beethoven at the peak of his chamber music powers.
Production Théâtre des Champs-Élysées
