About
Hungarian pianist András Schiff has earned a reputation as one of the most striking musicians of his generation, and justifiably so! He was very well-drilled; when he was studying the piano his teacher, the great Hungarian composer György Kurtág, would make him “sing the music”. To this day, he attributes his greatest strides in music to this method, and it is hardly surprising that he is an outstanding accompanist for Lieder. He has devoted his life to the “great classics” and has a special rapport at the keyboard and on the rostrum with the work and world of Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, Schumann, and Schubert.
