Malandain Ballet Biarritz 

Thierry Malandain has been the director of Ballet Biarritz since 1998 and is a prolific choreographer who imbues each of his creations with a distinctly modern style and a profound sense of humanity. He will step back at the end of 2026, after almost thirty years in Biarritz, and is currently organising numerous projects and tours, hence this Parisian celebration showcasing his latest work. Music has always been central to Thierry Malandain’s inspiration, and his ballets emerge from a close rapport with a composer in an encounter between creators that transcends eras, distances and, most particularly, words. For this Parisian celebration, he has invited three of his “fellow travellers”, a trio of eminent figures from the world of French music spanning Romanticism, Impressionism and Modernism. Each of them, in their own way, constantly sought to achieve a balance between tradition and innovation: Saint-Saëns and Ravel, who are renowned for their erudite and innovative orchestrations, and Stravinsky who blends daring modern harmonies with flair.
