About

Attila is a bloodthirsty and highly-strung youthful work by Verdi which represents a turning point in his career as a musician, marking the shift from the bel canto traditions of his predecessors to the development of his own personal style which would make him the figurehead for Italian opera in the second half of the 19th century. Verdi takes some liberties with history, making his characters much more complex as individuals, especially Attila, who is plagued by doubts and a far cry from bloodthirsty king of the Huns of legend.
