About
This evening of Stravinsky invites us on a journey between polar opposites, uncovering the mystery of Sophocles’ tragedy revisited by Jean Cocteau, and then sweeping us along on the orchestral tidal wave of The Rite of Spring. One musician, two works composed almost 40 years apart, and two quite different musical universes. The first embraces the “classical” world, while the second bears the hallmarks of his “home country”, a powerful presence during his Ballets russes period with Diaghilev. A stirring showcase of Stravinsky’s genius.
