Grigory Sokolov won the Tchaikovsky Piano Competition in Moscow at the age of sixteen, but at the same age, his protégée Alexandra Dovgan, has long since left competitions behind! This young Russian pianist is back with Beethoven’s momentous Hammerklavier, Chopin, and Sonata No. 2 by Rachmaninoff, for which the composer chose the same key of B flat minor as Chopin’s Sonata No.2 which he greatly admired. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery!
