About
October 2025. Ten years after narrowly missing out on a spot on the podium and placing a very commendable fourth, Eric Lu has won the International Chopin Piano Competition. He is the first American pianist to win in Warsaw and the only one to have earned this accolade in two different versions of the competition. In addition to a second half which is naturally devoted to Chopin, the pianist, whom BBC Music Magazine has hailed as the new Radu Lupu, also treats us to his favourite composer: Schubert. He will explore four Impromptus, which he considers to be “the most precious jewels in piano literature”. The programme will begin with the transcription for piano by Brahms himself of the second part of his String Sextet No. 1. He could not have produced a finer birthday gift Clara Schumann in 1860.
