TX : Igor Levit pursues his journey into the heart of Beethoven’s sonatas with five more opuses including the legendary No. 26. Beethoven composed this work when Archduke Rudolph, his patron and student, left Vienna to escape Napoleon’s armies. Subtitled Les Adieux (The Farewell), it is his only sonata attributed to an actual non-musical event. This is a highly expressive work of great style, exceptional technical difficulty and remarkable inventiveness.
