About
The young Franco-American pianist Paul Ji trained for 10 years with Qin Yingming (winner of the 1981 Long Thibaud Competition) and studied at the École Normale de Paris with Jean-Bernard Pommier. Winner of Carnegie Hall’s “American Protégé” competition in 2012, he won the Steinway International Competition seven times between 2010 and 2018 and was selected to perform as France’s representative at the Steinway Music Festival at the Laeiszhalle in Hamburg. That same year, he performed at the Berlin Philharmonie after winning the Berlin Rising Stars Grand Prix, and at the Annecy Music Festival. Talent-spotted as the winner of the French TV programme Prodiges in 2019, when he was just 15, he released his first album on Warner. After winning prizes at several international competitions in the United States and Europe, he embarked on a professional career as a recitalist, performing on a number of prestigious concert stages. For his second appearance at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, he naturally chose a programme devoted entirely to Chopin, a composer whom he interprets with elegance and nobility.
