About
The Christmas Oratorio is divided into cantatas, beginning with the birth of Jesus and concluding with the adoration of the Magi, and was originally intended to be performed over six consecutive days. The work draws heavily on the gospels of St Luke and St Matthew and is among Bach’s most masterfully executed compositions.
