About

Seong-Jin Cho tells anyone who wants to hear him not to be crazy about competitions. Four years before triumphing at the Chopin Competition in Warsaw (2015), his victory at the Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow nevertheless led him to cross paths with Michel Beroff, with whom he perfected his skills in Paris. He went on to study Debussy, Ravel, Bartók and Prokofiev. A very useful apprenticeship to approach Szymanowski's Masks, at the heart of a programme inaugurated by the contrasting moods of Schumann's great Humoreske Opus 20. Poland still fills the Korean's late evening. His reference to the great Frederic? These Scherzi Alfred Cortot said, "These are games [...], but terrifying, dances, but feverish, hallucinating; they seem to punctuate the harsh round human torment."
