About
Since winning first prize in the prestigious Chopin international Piano Competition at the age of twenty in Warsaw in 2005, Polish pianist Rafał Blechacz has embarked on a flawless career. He moves forward with a rigour, serious attitude and perfectionism that command respect, not least because he has taken a year out to complete a PhD thesis on the philosophy of music. Onstage, he has mastered the art of total clarity in his playing: precise articulation, strong attack, sonority, and subtly varied dynamics. He has all the skills at his fingertips to showcase a stunning grasp of refinement, which includes a true poetics of sound. All this will be apparent tonight with Bach and, Chopin, of course.
