About

This new offering for audiences at the Théâtre was devised by the team from the Paris Opera Competition, the international competition for young opera singers founded in 2010 by Pierre Vernes, whose seventh edition took place in January 2022. Although competitions are an ideal springboard for emerging artists, the Paris Opera Competition is taking this approach to the next level by supporting them as they enter the professional arena. It is now organising masterclasses open to the public; during the two-hour session singers receive advanced coaching and the public can also learn by witnessing the work involved in vocal training. Who better than French mezzo Karine Deshayes to lead this two-pronged initiative? Demanding, precise but good-humoured, she has a true gift for teaching and passing on the quite unique art of singing. Whether you are a young singer or a vocal enthusiast, this new event is for you. You will receive a wealth of practical advice and listening tips.
